[ArXiv] 1st week, June 2008

Despite no statistic related discussion, a paper comparing XSPEC and ISIS, spectral analysis open source applications might bring high energy astrophysicists’ interests this week. Continue reading ‘[ArXiv] 1st week, June 2008’ »

[ArXiv] 1st week, Nov. 2007

To be exact, the title of this posting should contain 5th week, Oct, which seems to be the week of EGRET. In addition to astro-ph papers, although they are not directly related to astrostatistics, I include a few statistics papers which may be profitable for astronomical data analysis. [ArXiv] 1st week, Oct. 2007

This week, instead of only filtering AstroStatistics related papers from arxiv, I chose additional arxiv/astro-ph papers related to CHASC folks’ astrophysical projects. Some of papers you see from this week do not have sophisticated statistical analysis but contain data from specific satellites and possibly relevant information related to CHASC projects. Due to the CHACS’ long history (we are celebrating the 10th birthday this year) and my being a newbie to CHASC, I may not pick up all papers related to the projects of current, former, and future CHASC members and dedicated slog readers. For creating a satisfying posting every week, your inputs are welcome to improve my adaptive filter. For the list of this week, click the following.

[ArXiv] Gamma-ray albedo of the moon, Aug. 15, 2007

From arxiv/astro-ph:0705.3856
Gamma-ray albedo of the moon by Moskalenko and Porter

The title sounds very interesting although the significance of albedo spectra is not recognized by a statistician. This study was performed to utilize GLAST and PAMELA via Monte Carlo simulations (the toolkit for MC was GEANT 8.2) with EGRET data.
