Research Interests
My research concentrates mostly on high energy astrophysics, in particular on the study of X-ray observations. I work on atomic calculations that describe the properties of atoms that interact with X-rays, i.e., inner-shell photoabsorption. These are used to produce photoionization models to interpret the X-ray spectrum from different sources. I have developed the code XILLVER which is used to model the X-ray reflected spectra from accretion disks around black holes or neutron stars. These are key to measure the spin of black holes. I am also interested in the study of the X-ray absorption in the interstellar medium, and pretty much all things related to photoionization modelling.
