AXAF HXDS Calibration at PTB-BESSY Page
Calibration Test Run #1

The HXDS Solid State Detectors were first setup on the KMC Beamline at BESSY on Sunday, October 12, 1997 for the first week of testing.  The HXDA and BND-500 SSD's were alternately tested on this beamline through the week.  Towards the end of the first week, the SSD's were moved to PTB's dedicated test area where one was set up on their SX-700 beamline while the other was setupon their white light beamline.

Week I, Setup 1. KMC Beamline

The HXDA SSD (SSD-X) is the first instrument to undergo test, installed onto the KMC beamline at BESSY for this test phase. It is shown, in this image, over my left shoulder enclosed in a capran bag. Later in the week, the BND-500 SSD was installed onto the beamline.

Testing on the White Light and SX700 beamlines finished at 5:00 pm local time on Wednesday, October 22.  The test setup was broken down and the detectors swapped beamlines.  Because of cable length issues, the entire cabling setup had to be rearranged.  The following shows the resultant electronics rack and PC/workstation arrangement in the lab.
