Giridhar (New York College)> Why can't we have a website like "Ask the Astrostatistician?" A panel could visit it on a regular basis and answer questions. [Even once a month answers will be better]. David van Dyk (UC Irvine)> Not practical, because it is hard to understand the problem until one spends a lot of time thinking about it, and it may be months before one finds the time to do so and give a useful response. Ashish Mahabal> Also, such websites often get the same questions again and again. Even if the answers are collected together, people do not take the trouble to read them. Besides, questions typically get asked when people want qucik response, say in 2-3 days. So monthly updates will not serve that purpose. The suggestion is good, but a more channeled effort will be needed. [??]> Perhaps one can have a FAQ and have it linked to a decision tree so that the questioner would get directed to more and more specific regions. ______________________________________________________________________________ Ashish Mahabal (paraphrased from memory; edited by Vinay Kashyap)
